Degrees of Burn
First Degree
Skin is red or pink; it is dry and has no blisters. The area is tender
and sore. Mild Swelling.
Second Degree
Skin has blisters, some of which may ooze fluid. The skin has splotchy
patches of white to pink to red. The area is very painful.
Third Degree
Both layers of skin destroyed. Skin is leathery and dry and is white,
brown or charred. There is little or no pain at first.
